Circular (round) knitted stockings

Circular knitting machines work with a cylinder that can contain between 300 and 520 needles. It is knitted seamlessly from the tip to the waistband. The number of needles remains the same over the entire knitting process, whereas the meshes sizes vary and so different sizes can be knitted with one stocking.

For example, the stitches on the thigh are larger and therefore the pressure is lower than on the lower leg. In addition,
a pre
-tensioned compression thread is placed between the rows of stitches to provide pressure.

Deviating from this, there is also the option of knitting in the compression thread, e.g. with "support stockings" or low compression classes (15mm HG), which thus becomes part of the meshes.

Meshes pattern

The compression effect in circular-knitted stockings can thus be generated via the knitted (part of the Meshes) and/or the inserted compression thread (betwen the meshes).

Circular knit stockings are thus characterized by greater elasticity than their flat-knitted counterpart, in which the compression thread is loosely inserted exclusively into the rows.
