Stiffness - Compression stockings

The resting pressure is currently used to describe the compression strength. The compression classes only describe the respective pressure under rest conditions.

The pressure only increases when the muscles are activated while walking.¹

This working pressure is determined by the material used, which can differ in terms of elasticity and stretchability as well as the weight per unit area (Stiffness).

In order to obtain a higher working pressure, this can be achieved both through a higher resting pressure, but also through the targeted selection of a material with a higher stiffness.

For this reason, there are medical compression stockings (MKS) made of different materials in the various compression classes (CCL).

In general, the more and stronger the material, the higher the stiffness and the work pressure.

All compression stockings (MD) have the same resting pressure in the respective assigned compression classes. However, they differ in the materials used and knitted yarns and their diameters. This not only results in differences in appearance.

"For the effectiveness of the MD, however, not only the resting pressure, but also the working pressure and thus the material, which differs in terms of elasticity and elasticity (stiffness), is of great importance through a higher stiffness. For this reason there are medical compression stockings made of different materials in the various KKL."¹

FINE
Compression stockings with yarns, the properties of which are geared towards fineness and high transparency. These do not meet the requirements placed on stockings that are reimbursed by health insurance companies in Germany.
