Circular (round) knitted stockings

Circular knitting machines work with a cylinder that can contain between 300 and 520 needles. It is knitted seamlessly from the tip to the waistband. The number of needles remains the same over the entire knitting process, whereas the stitch sizes vary and so different sizes can be knitted with one stocking.

For example, the stitches on the thigh are larger and therefore the pressure is lower than on the lower leg. In addition, a pre-tensioned compression thread is placed between the rows of stitches to provide pressure.

Round knit stockings are more elastic than their flat knitted counterparts.
